Many MAC OS X users got the question of ‘how to back up Mac files’,’ Is there a best way to do the back up.’ Actually, we have a lot of approaches to do it, we recommend you one of the basic accesses. It is a kind of easy way.
For backing up your files, you’d better do the full backup to an external hard disk drive once a month. Plug your external hard drive and then open the Disk Utility.
In the left hand column, click on your computer’s main hard drive which with Mac OSX installed on it.
Then Click the tab ’Restore’ Mac OSX 10.3 Panther or later required.
Copy your main hard drive to the white field of ‘source’. Copy the external hard drive into ‘destination’ (the data’s name in the hard drive should not be the same as anyone in the main drive, or you will replace the previous file).
Click ‘restore’ to copy all the data to the external hard drive.
If it was finished, you should go to System Preference, click Startup Disk, select the external drive, restart it, check if the computer can boot from the external drive.
If the thing goes well, it means you have backed up successfully and you can unplug the external device.
If you want to restore it, you should do the upper steps, do not hold down the ‘Option’ key at startup, and choose to boot off the external hard drive. Finally, put the FireWire drive into the ‘Source’ field and your main drive into the ‘Destination’ field.
With those steps, your files could be back up easily. However, there are still many other good ways to have it done. If you have any other more easy and reliable way to do it,you can recommend it to me. Thanks.
Can I just say what a relief to find someone who actually knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely have the gift.
