It is said that about 3900 injures are sent to the hospital each year because of the electrical shock or electrical fire. With the increasing of injures and deaths, Electrical outlet safety has become a concerned topic by us.
I heard that a child put metal objects, for example keys, some small metal toys into the outlet, which cause in hurting their fingers and hand by electric shock or burn. This happens every year. In order to avoid this accident we should read the instruction when try to test or repair the outlet. Additionally, take care of your young child. Please pay attention to following information:
1. Many receptacles may be damaged or ruined over the years in the old homes, so remote electrical outlets should be tested or repaired by a period time. And you’d better ask the professional person to do it.
2. Electrical outlets are often used in the kitchen and bathroom. In this case, it is easy for us to be shocked by electricity when we touch the receptacle because the plug is not perfect fit the receptacle after being repeated use (plug and unplug…)
3. Learn some thing about how to protect us from electrical hazards. On the one hand, you should change all you old electrical system. Also install ground-fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs). On the other hand, install another 2-wire receptacle.
At last, do something to protect your children. Put plastic into unused receptacle when your children can get the remote electrical outlets. And make sure no part of plug is exposed. It should be completely inserted into the receptacles.
